How tough is it to win the Bergen County tournament? Just ask the Immaculate Heart girls volleyball team.

Since the beginning of the 2007 season, IHA has been the unquestioned best team in New Jersey. The three straight Tournament of Champions titles and a 112-3 record against New Jersey competition speaks for itself.

But all three of those loses have come in the Bergen County tournament, the latest coming on Wednesday when Demarest shocked IHA, 32-29, 25-12 in the quarterfinals. It’s just another example, proving that New Jersey’s toughest tournament to win is in Bergen County.

More on Demarest’s big upset and what it means in a moment. But first, let’s take a look at Wednesday’s other quarterfinal, in which No. 3 Ramapo looked very strong in a 25-13, 25-23 win over No. 6 River Dell.
