The newest state tournament power points were released on Monday with games through Sunday, May 12. These are not the final seedings. Official brackets will get announced Thursday night, and be finalized Friday morning. Couple things I noticed at first glance: Indian Hills has a comfortable lead for the No. 1 spot in North 1, Group 3 over High Point. Last year, the Braves had to make the long trip to High Point and lost in the final. The way it stands now, a possible rematch could only happen in the final at Indian Hills, which would be beneficial for the Braves. … Saddle Brook still has a lead over Midland Park for the top spot in North 1, Group 1, and I don’t know how much ground MP can gain over the next three days. If both top seeds reach that final, which won’t be easy in a tough section, the final would be at Saddle Brook. … IHA and Paramus Catholic won’t be meeting in the BCT, but with the way the seeds are right now, the two teams could meet in the North, Non-Public A sectional final … Immaculate Conception is going to enter the state tournament as big time favorites to win the North, Non-Public B sectional title and play in Toms River for a state title, one year after falling in the final. No one is even close to IC in power points in that section right now. … North 1, Group 2, headed by Ramsey and Pequannock, is a heavy North Jersey section, with seven of the top eight seeds currently occupied by area schools. … In North 2, Group 2, Rutherford is currently just two points behind Hanover Park for the top spot.Â
