Northern Highlands, ranked No. 1 in the nation and riding a state-record 79-game unbeaten streak, was awarded the top seed in the Bergen County girls soccer tournament Wednesday night. The Highlanders have won at least a share of the last three county tournaments, are 7-0 this year and have not conceded a goal against.

Immaculate Heart, which tied Northern Highlands, 1-1, in the county finals last year, earned the second seed. It has big wins over nationally-ranked Massapequa (NY) and state-ranked Bridgewater-Raritan on is resume and is currently 7-0.

Returning semifinalists Ramapo and Ridgewood earned the third and fourth seeds respectively.  The opening round of the tournament is scheduled for this Sunday at the higher seeded teams home field. The tournament continues every Sunday after that until the finals Nov. 2 at Indian Hills.
