Snow wiped out almost the entire girl’s holiday tournament schedule on Sunday, but those hearty souls at River Dell did manage to get in one game of the Holiday Hoop Jam. Northern Highlands, a team that seems to be brimming with talented underclassmen, beat Secaucus, 58-46.
Freshman point Madison Dunbar scored 11 of her team-high 17 points in the first quarter to lead the Highlanders..
“She made a lot of freshman mistakes, but she was able to overcome them,” said Northern Highlands coach Al Albanese. “She also added eight assists. It was real good game for her.”
Sophomore center Jackie Reyneke also had a strong game for Highlands, with 11 points, 14 rebounds and four blocked shots, even though she was double and triple teamed most of the game. Andrea Innis scored a game-high 22 points to lead Secaucus (2-1).
