I heard from almost 20 schools in North Jersey that have had, or are planning breast cancer awareness events in October. It’s hard to miss all the pink everywhere, and it’s a wonderful thing – says the son of someone who died from breast/bone cancer 10 years ago.

Ridgefield Park is playing a breast cancer awareness volleyball game Tuesday, Oct. 13.

In memory of former Mayor Susan Spohn, members of the Palisades Park student council, girls basketball team and Italian National Honor Society are selling Making Strides ribbons for a dollar.
Also, approximately 75 Palisades Park students will participate in a walk Sunday, Oct. 18 at Overpeck Park.
The Pal Park/Leonia football team is wearing pink socks, and the cheerleaders have pink shoelaces and hair bows. The girls soccer team has pink shoelaces and pink pre-wrap in their hair all month.

Friday Oct. 9, the West Milford cross-country teams ran in pink socks and raised money for breast cancer awareness in conjunction with Passaic Valley High School.
The West Milford field hockey program decorated pumpkins pink (naturally) that are being sold at the Play 4 the Cure games.

The 5th Quarter Club at Lakeland High School has created a shirt for the Pink Out football game, Friday, Oct. 30. Pink ribbons have been painted on the athletic fields.

Paramus Catholic’s football game November 7 vs. St. Joe’s will be a pink out, shirts socks and bags are being sold online.
The Paramus Catholic volleyball game Thursday, Oct. 15 against Bergenfield will be a breast cancer awareness fundraiser. There will be a serving contest for fans to win prizes as well as a bake sale.

The Teaneck cross country teams ran at the Manhattan Invitational in pink socks and the Teaneck girls tennis team is using pink balls at all home matches in October. Cheerleaders also have pink pompoms, socks and bows. The volleyball team will recognize Breast Cancer Awareness at it’s Senior Night game, Monday, Oct. 26.

On October 19th NV/Demarest and Passaic Valley Field Hockey teams will wear pink socks for breast cancer awareness month, and will be taking donations the day of the event to be donated to “Play for the Cure”.

At Park Ridge High School, the volleyball team wears pink warm-ups, pink shoelaces and uses a pink ball. The boys and girls soccer teams wear pink socks.

Rutherford High School had an organized Pink Out for it’s football game Oct. 2, and the boys and girls soccer teams are wearing pink warm-up shirts.

The Fair Lawn girls tennis team is playing home matches using pink balls,w earing socks for Breast Cancer Awareness month and also raising money for “Tennis For Life,” a program where breast cancer survivors play tennis as a form of rehabilitation and support.

Cresskill High School Volleyball Program will run a Dig Pink volleyball match on Tuesday, October 20th at 5:30 p.m. Money raised goes to Breast Cancer Research.

Becton will have it’s pink out football game on Oct. 23. The NFL provided the school with a banner, pom-poms to give away and customized wall card template for signature donation cards.

The Northern Highlands volleyball team plans on wearing pink in support of breast cancer awareness month on October 16th vs. Ridgewood.
Northern Highlands Field Hockey is hosting a “Play for Pink” game on October 13 vs. Westwood, our sixth season in a row hosting such an event.

The Pascack Valley boys soccer team will be hosting a pink out game on Thursday, October 15 at PV against Tenafly @ 4:15. T-Shirts are being sold during school leading up to the game and at the game. All proceeds go to a local foundation called Spoil Me Pink.
Pascack Valley Girls Soccer had fundraising at their home county game Sunday, 10/11. It is for leukemia in honor of one of our students, Zack Latteri. All proceeds will be donated to the Zack Latteri Fund.

The Ramsey High School field hockey team will host NV/Old Tappan, Tuesday, Oct. 20 in a “Play 4 the Cure” event.

River Dell High School will have it’s pink out football game Friday, Oct. 16 against Englewood. The school also has pink nets on its soccer goals.

At New Milford, the soccer teams, tennis team, volleyball team are all using pink balls at home games. The cheerleaders have pink pom-poms, shirts, bows and socks
