Brittney Sykes of Newark University took over in the final minutes to help the North hold on for a 110-105 win in today’s 34th North/South All-Star Classic at Rider University in Lawrenceville.
Sykes scored seven of her team-high 18 in the final four minutes and was chosen the game’s most valuable player. In the final minute, the 5-foot-9 Sykes came up about six inches shy on a dunk attempt.
River Dell’s Kate Brock and Teaneck’s Jakelle King-Gilchrist scored five points apiece. Pascack Valley’s Catherine Rodgers scored four, Pequannock’s Samantha Tabakman three and Immaculate Heart’s Raquel Scott two.
