Kate Brock scored her 1,000th point on a layup off the offensive rebound at the 6:52 mark in the first quarter, and her teammates ran onto the court to congratulate her.
The River Dell senior needed just one point for the milestone and finished with a team-high 14 points, 12 rebounds and six blocks in the 42-28 loss to Ridgewood in the fifth-place game of the Holiday Hoop Jam tournament at River Dell High School Friday.
“It’s been a goal of mine since freshman year,†Brock said. “It wasn’t until last year that I realized I was close. It’s an important individual accomplishment.â€
